Hello everyone and welcome to our garden!
Our garden is an interguarl part of our centre. This is an area where the tamariki can emersem themsleves in nature, where they can learn and develop many important skills. Our garden provides the tamariki with the ability to inquire into, reserach, explore, genegrate, and modifiy working theries about the natural, socal, physical, spritual and human made worlds.
We have grown lots of vegetables like lettuces and tomatoes, as well as the more unusual ones such as giant pumpkins, yellow tomatoes, luffas, popping corn and peanuts. Our giant pumpkins have reached 53kgs, this has definitely been a great learning journey with lots of ups and downs.
The tamariki love their garden and are encouraged to explore and get involved with every aspect of it. We usually create yummy baking with our fruits and vegtables to show the full life cycle of the garden.
We hope that through this garden experience our tamariki are able to connect with Papatūānuku and develop a sense of kaitiakitanga.
